Pair of suspects is arrested in separate Turkey Creek incidents

(1) James Thomas DOB 8/14/1962 N. 16th Street, Alexandria, LA, 71301
On 10/17/2020 at approximately 2249 hours, Officers with the Turkey Creek Police Department observed a white Lincoln Towncar traveling North on LA Highway 167. Officers observed traffic violations, which prompted them to conduct a stop
Officer conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, James Thomas. During the field interview, Officers smelled the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle as Thomas retrieved his registration from the glove compartment. A search of the vehicle was conducted, where officers located a small tin can in the driver side door containing Marijuana.
Thomas was placed under arrest and a criminal history was conducted, which revealed Thomas was previously convicted of possession with intent to distribute Schedule I CDS. Thomas was issued a citation for the traffic violations and a warrant of arrest was issued for violation of La RS 40:966/40:982, possession of marijuana second or subsequent offense and LaRS 40:981.3 possession of a CDS in a drug free zone.
Thomas was booked in the Evangeline Parish Jail with a $15,000 bond issued by 13th Judicial District Judge Chuck West.

(2) Jody Thrasher DOB 09/13/1975 Oakdale Rd , Oakdale, LA, 71463
On October 22, 2020 at 22:27 Hrs. Officers with the Turkey Creek Police Department observed a white in color GMC Yukon traveling Northbound on US Highway 167 and did not have a light illuminating the license plate in violation of LaRS 32:304.
Officers conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver Jody Thrasher who could not produce a valid drivers license. Thrasher disclosed to Officers that his driver’s license was in fact suspended in violation of L.A.R.S. 32:414. A check with Central Dispatch confirmed that Thrasher’s driving privileges were suspended.
Thrasher was arrested for driving under suspension and a search incident to arrest was conducted on his person, where Officer located a medication bottle with rock like material inside, presumed to be Crystal Meth, in violation of LaRS 40:967 possession of schedule II CDS. Prior to towing the vehicle, Officers performed a search incident to arrest and a clear plastic baggie with rock like material, presumed to be Crystal Meth, was located in the center front cup holder of the vehicle.
Thrasher was issued a citation for the traffic violations and a warrant was issued by 13th Judicial District Judge Chuck West for possession of schedule II CDS and possession of a CDS within a drug free zone. Thrasher was booked into the Evangeline Parish Jail with no bond, at the time of booking.
