STANLEY BULLER, JR.
July 14, 1940 - April 17, 2021
OPELOUSAS - A Mass of Christian Burial was held for Stanley Buller, Jr. at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at Chapel of the Resurrection Catholic Church in Whiteville. It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Mr. Stanley Buller, Jr., age 80, on Saturday, April 17, at his residence in Whiteville surrounded by his family.
Rev. Fr. Donavan Labbe celebrated the Mass.
Rite of Committal and Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington under the direction of LaFond Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas.
Visitation was held on Monday, April 19, 2021, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas. On Tuesday, visitation continued in the funeral home from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. A Rosary service was held at 6 p.m. on Monday evening in the funeral home.
Stanley grew up in Garland. He had a passion for farming and hunting. After graduating from Washington High School at the age of 17, he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served as a signal corpsman until his discharge. He then attended University of Southwestern Louisiana but entered the work-force before graduating. First working in the oilfield, then, when his father cut off his hand in a cotton gin accident, Stanley left the oilfield to work with his dad. After many years of farming, Stanley started his insurance career in 1983.
In 1986, he opened his own insurance agency, Buller’s Crop Insurance. Stanley received the sales recognition award for outstanding achievement in crop insurance numerous years. He was also acknowledged for his 29 years of service to the Garland-Whiteville Water System. Stanley was known for always going above and beyond for his family, community and farmers. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Matt Buller; sons, Michael Dwain Buller, Stanley Joseph (Toni) Buller, and Stephen Lloyd (Katie) Buller; daughters, Anita Hope Buller (David Clause), Danielle (Kevin) Shipp and, and Jenny Buller; grandchildren, Sammy (Gabby) Buller, Ross Buller, Faith Buller, Noah Buller, Sydney Buller (Jacob) Barnes, John Buller, Dawson Buller, Emma Buller, Grace Lejeune, Aidan Lejeune, Rhett Lejeune, Brant Lejeune, Seth Shipp, Lauren Shipp, and Ellis Shipp; great-grandchildren, Jack Buller and Loretta Rose Buller; mother-in-law, Verlie Matt; brothers, Jerome “Tede” (Lennie) Buller and Michael “Tot” (Nicole) Buller; sisters, Lorraine LeBlanc and Wilda “Toggie” (Robert) Savoie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Stanley and Anita Savant Buller; father-in-law, Dewey Joseph Matt; sister, Daphne Simoneaux; grandson, Casey Buller; brothers-in-law, Harry Simoneaux, John LeBlanc, and Greg Leger, Sr.; and nephew, Brandon Sweeney.
Pallbearers were his grandsons, Sammy Buller, Ross Buller, Noah Buller, John Buller, Dawson Buller, Aidan Lejeune, Rhett Lejeune, Brant Lejeune, Seth Shipp, and Ellis Shipp.
The family would like to thank Opelousas General Health System and the special staff who all took such great care of our Pepop at every visit and also to all the physicians and their staff who treated him so kindly and patiently. Special thanks to Opelousas Orthopaedic Clinic- Dr. David Clause and Dr. Porubsky and also Dr. Hunt DeBlanc, Dr. Raza, Dr. Valle, Dr. Owens, Dr. Ballanco, Dr. Sharkey, Dr. Constance Cole, Dr. Krawczyk, Dr. Scott Boagni, Dr. Jason Trahan, Dr. Jason Fontenot, and Dr. Gros. Over the last four months, with each and every visit, the doctors and staff always showed such kindness and compassion.
A special thanks to Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care, nurse Donnie, aide Abbie, and nurse Christine. We could not have asked for better care and compassion for our father.
We would also like to thank Pepop’s very special, personal nurse, Sydney Buller Barnes. He and Memaw were very grateful for her countless hours. And all of their grandchildren who would take time to fill in for Memaw to run errands and attend mass. Pepop was definitely blessed to have so many who loved him.

SEBASTIEN VIDRINE
September 25, 1932 - April 9, 2021
VILLE PLATTE - Funeral services for Sebastien “Bascan” Vidrine, 88, were held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, April 12, 2021, at Sacred Heart Of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte. Mr. Vidrine, a resident of Ville Platte, passed away Friday, April 9, 2021, at the Saint Joseph Hospice Carpenter House in Lafayette.
Fr. Andrew Killeen, parochial vicar at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, was celebrant for the Mass and conduct the funeral services.
Burial followed in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Mausoleum under the direction of LaVille Funeral Home.
Visitation began Monday, April 12, 2021, at 8:30 a.m. at LaVille Funeral Home, with a Rosary being recited at 10 a.m. until the time of services.
A life long resident of Ville Platte and a retired Cleco employee, Sebastien “Bascan” loved spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He frequented watching horse racing and enjoyed gardening, fishing, and playing solitaire. He also enjoyed watching LSU sports and followed SHS Trojan athletics season after season. “Bascan” will surely be remembered for his wit and teasing manner and most of all for his generous heart. He will always be referred to as “chief” by those closest to him.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sandra Ortego Vidrine; two sons, Stephen B. Vidrine and wife, Cindy, of Whiteville, and Scott M. Vidrine, of Tioga; two daughters, Susan Vidrine Bordelon and husband, Matt, and Sally Vidrine Enicke and husband, Gary, both of Ville Platte; four grandchildren, Spencer M. Bordelon and wife, Jade, of Covington, Jacob S. Bordelon, of Lafayette, and fiancé, Lindsey Courville, of Lake Charles, Jade Enicke Lavergne and husband, Kyle, of Ville Platte, and Erica Vidrine of Alexandria; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews, who he loved like his own.
Sebastien is preceded in death by his parents Adam Jean and Armide Tate Vidrine; brothers, Adam Red Vidrine, Hewitt Vidrine, Franklin Vidrine Sr.; and sisters, Lily Vidrine Deville and Eloise Vidrine Ardoin.
Pallbearers for Sebastien were Stephen B. Vidrine, Scott M. Vidrine, Spencer M. Bordelon, Jacob S. Bordelon, Kyle Laverne, and Ted M. Buller.

LESSIE MAE FONTENOT GUILLORY
August 22, 1928 - April 14, 2021
VILLE PLATTE - Funeral services for Lessie Mae Fontenot Guillory, 92, were held at 1 p.m. on Friday April 16, 2021, at Our Lady, Queen of All Saints Catholic Church. Ms. Guillory, a resident of Ville Platte, passed away Wednesday April 14, 2021, at her residence.
Father Mitch Guidry officiate the funeral mass.
Burial followed in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery under the direction of LaVille Funeral Home.
Visitation began Friday, April 16, 2021, at LaVille Funeral Home from 8:30 a.m. until the time of services, with a Rosary being recited at 11 a.m.
She will be deeply missed by her loving family, son, Pat Guillory and wife, Betty, of Monroe; daughter, Sybil Veillon and husband, Charles, of Ville Platte; daughter-in-law Cathy Guillory; brother Haguillory Fontenot of Gainesville, Texas; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alcee and Ludie Daire Fontenot; husband, Charles Guillory; son, Cecil Guillory; brothers, Autry Fontenot, Howard Fontenot, Isom Fontenot, and sister Cecilia Vidrine.
