THERESA JULIUS FONTENOT (ALSTON)
July 28, 1948 – February 24, 2021

Theresa Julius Fontenot (Alston), 72, of Siler City, North Carolina, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at UNC Hillsborough. The funeral Mass was held on Thursday, March 4, 2021, at 10 a.m. at St. Julia Catholic Parish, 210 Harold Hart Road, Siler City, North Carolina.
Friar Julio Martinez officiated.
Burial followed in Chatham Memorial Park under the direction of Smith & Buckner Funeral Home.
Theresa lay in repose on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home.
Mrs. Fontenot was born in Oakdale on July 28, 1948, the daughter of Edmond Fontenot and Gladys Gradney.
Theresa was a member of St. Julia Catholic Church. She was highly respected in the church and her community. Theresa had an amazing love of her family especially her grandchildren. She loved spending time tending to the flowers in her garden, as well as sewing and being an amazing cook.
She is survived by her son, Leon Steven Alston, Jr. and wife, Linda, of Siler City, North Carolina; grandchildren, Adrian Alexander Alston and Lawrence Steven Alston (Brianna); sister, Thelma Martin of South Carolina; brothers, D.L., Randolph, and Alfred Fontenot all of Louisiana; and ex-husband, Leon Steven Alston Sr. of Silk Hope, North Carolina.
In addition to her parents, Theresa is preceded in death by her daughter Vanessa Gladys Alston and brother; Joseph Fontenot.

REV. CHARLES DEAN LUKE
February 14, 1948 – February 19, 2021

Reverend Charles Dean Luke peacefully entered the Kingdom of Heaven in his sleep on Friday, February 19, 2021. The funeral service was held at First Baptist Church of Keithville on Friday, March 5, 2021, at 11 a.m.
Officiating the service was Rev. Mike Stowell.
Burial followed at 1 p.m. at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville under the direction of Rose-Neath South Funeral Home.
His wake was held at Rose-Neath South Funeral Home on March 4 from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., including a Memorial Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m.
Reverend Luke was born on February 14, 1948. Reverend Luke held many positions during his life. He was a dedicated, loving, husband and father. As a civil servant, he held the position of accountant. He pastored for many years ministering to his congregations with a loving, caring spirit. For 27 years, he served our nation as a captain in the Army Reserves. He also served with the United States Navy on active duty. Charles said, “I served in the military in order to protect those that I loved. Preserving the freedom that our country, the USA, holds dear has been a privilege and honor.”
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Fontenot Luke; son, Chuck and wife, Angie; daughter, Denise Schule and husband, Charles Schule Jr.; brother, Bill Luke and wife, Billy; grandchildren, Kaylee, Madison, Courtney, Dylan, Trey, and Bella; and one great-grandchild, RJ.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lou Chadwick Luke; his father, John Emmett Luke; a brother, John Emmett Luke Jr.; and a twin sister, Cheryl Marie Luke.
