The Mamou Police Department recently made a massive drug bust that resulted in two arrests and the confiscation of nearly 300 grams of marijuana.
Arrested in this matter were Anthony J. Fontenot, of 521 East St., Mamou, and Ladelle M. Collins, of 812 4th St., Mamou.
The drug bust occurred after officers received a tip that illegal drug activity was taking place at Collins’ home. Officers at that point got a search warrant for the home. Upon the search, law enforcement officers said they “located between 280 and 290 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and 12.6 grams of crystal meth.”
Both Fontenot and Collins had just been released from jail on probation for other crimes, and therefore when they were arrested in this matter, their probation was revoked.
Fontenot and Collins have been charged with distribution/manufacture with the intent of a schedule I controlled dangerous substance (CDS), prohibited acts of a sch. I and prohibited acts drug paraphernalia.
