On December 31
st, 2020  Lt. Collin Deville, Chief Brent Zackery and Assistant Chief Fruge of Mamou Police were involved in an armed standoff at 800 Redwood St. at approximately 1100 AM. The subject was apprehended after multiple attempts to disarm him.
The subject, Scotty Fournerat of Mamou, was resisting being arrested from a stolen cell phone incident, and numerous warrants through other law enforcement agencies. Fournerat held a gun to his head and was resisting orders to drop the weapon. After multiple attempts of attempting to talk the subject down, Chief Zackery took a few steps out of cover, holstering his weapon. He talked Fournerat into dropping his own weapon and laying the pistol at his side. After a few more moments of talking and working Fournerat down, officers were able to safely approach and arrest Fournerat with no incident. After a thorough pat down, Fournerat was found to have multiple items of contraband on his person. Among the contraband recovered was 10 grams of suspected marijuana, 11 grams of suspected crystal meth, assorted rolling papers, a scale, and various other forms of paraphernalia. The firearm also in possession was ran through Mamou dispatch and verified to be stolen.
Fournerat is facing charges of possession of stolen firearms, illegal carrying of a firearm, possession of schedule 1 and 2 and various paraphernalia charges.
