More illegal narcotics are taken off streets

The Evangeline Parish sheriff's Office K-9 Unit, on Monday, April 12, conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on the Oberlin Rd. near LD Verette Rd. The deputy made contact with the driver and occupants and advised of the reason for the stop. While the deputy was speaking to the driver, he could smell the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The deputy then deployed his K-9 and received positive alerts on the car. The deputies then searched the car and recovered illegal narcotics resulting in the following.

He was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a firearm in presence of CDS. He also had an outstanding bench warrant for non-support.

A day later, on Tuesday, April 13, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office Criminal Patrol Unit stopped a car for a traffic violation in Ville Platte. The deputies made contact with the driver and passenger, who were advised of the reason for the stop. The deputies conducted an interview with both subjects and requested permission to search the vehicle. Both subjects were found to be in possession of narcotics.

He was charged with possession of methamphetamine.
Also, on that same day, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Department conducted a search warrant on a residence located at 602 North Reed St. in Ville Platte. The Sheriff's Office has been receiving numerous complaints of criminal activity at that location, including drug trafficking.
The deputies entered the residence and began the search with K-9 Diego. Deputies recovered 87 grams of marijuana and approximately 19 ounces of PCP, along with a 9mm handgun. This led to the following arrest.

He was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana (87 grams), possession with intent to distribute PCP (approximately 19 ounces), possession of a firearm in presence of CDS, and possession of drug paraphernalia
