ORLANDO, FL -- The NBA playoffs officially kicked off Saturday when the Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Grizzlies in the play-in game to advance to the first round of the postseason.
But, the biggest upset of the playoff thus far was the 122-110 win posted by the No. 8 seed Orlando Magic in Tuesday’s first round battle with the No. 1 seed Milwaukee Bucks.
Orlando’s Nikola Vucevic knocked down 35 points and gathered 13 boards to lead the Magic. Terrence Ross scored 18 points off of the bench, while Markelle Fultz and Gary Clark both collected 15 points.
All-Star Giannis Antetokounmpo led the way for the Bucks with 31 points and 17 rebounds.
The win surprises many in NBA circles, as the Bucks were tapped as one of the favorites to win the NBA title this year.
So far, two other top seeded teams in the Eastern Conference have secured game one wins, as the Toronto Raptors took down the Brooklyn Nets 134-110 and the Boston Celtics slid past the Philadelphia 76’ers 109-101.
The No. 4 seed Indiana Pacers and the No. 5 seed Miami Heat were scheduled to play Tuesday afternoon.
In the Western Conference, the No. 2 seed Los Angeles Clippers outlasted the Dallas Mavericks 118-110 and the No. 3 seed Denver Nuggets eased past the No. 6 Utah Jazz 135-125 in round one games.
