Evangeline Parish 4-H & FFA youth participated in the 83rd Annual LSU AgCenter 4-H and FFA Livestock Show February 10-17, 2018 at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales.
Judges at the LSU AgCenter Livestock Show determined 2018 State Champions in various breeds of beef and dairy cattle, goats, hogs, poultry and sheep.
While the event showcases examples of the state’s important livestock industries, LSU AgCenter administrators say it is about much more than that.
Dr. William B. “Bill” Richardson, LSU Vice President for Agriculture, said,” This event provides an opportunity for some of the most outstanding youth in the state to receive recognition for their hard work in learning how to grow and care for a wide array of animals . ”.
Dr. Mark Tassin, Program Leader, 4-H Youth Development of the LSU AgCenter, said, “We are honored to sponsor this annual event, where young people from across the state gather to build life skills in leadership, character and responsibility through educational livestock projects.”
