At the main library in Ville Platte, it is worth repeating that we are now opened on Tuesday evenings until 8 p.m. to accommodate students and the working public. Please note that we continue to participate in the COVID-19 Phase 3 protocols of mask wearing and social distancing at main and all branch libraries.
Monday, April 19 at noon and 3 p.m. a Medicare Education Seminars will be offered by Tony Palombo to the public free of charge and again on, Tuesday, April 20 at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. (eight folks per session. Please call Tony to reserve your seat: 337-351-3558. Masks will be required along with social distancing measures). They will also be available again in May.
Tuesday, April 20 at 4:30 p.m. the Friends of the Library will meet. This is their first meeting in over a year. Please spread the word that the public is invited to attend.
Tuesday, April 27, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., Acadiana Workforce Solutions will host another enrollment opportunity for kids 16 – 24 years old such as paid internships and work experience.
Wednesday, April 28 at 10:30 a.m. the Mystery Book Club will meet to discuss its new book. New members are welcome to attend.
Every Monday at 3:30 p.m. the French Table meets.
Every Thursday at 1 p.m. the Quilters meet. We extend a big thank you to Janelle Tate and Jeanette Vidrine for their recent donations of fabric for the club’s use!
Our branches also have lots of programs going on so please visit our Facebook page for program dates and times. At this point, we are still posting the most current information about all of the good things going on at the main library and all branches on our Facebook page (Evangeline Library) since our webpage is still being worked on.
April is also Autism Awareness month. The following books are on display to help the public understand these very unique children: “Kids in the Syndrome Mix of ADHD, LD, Autism Spectrum, Tourette’s, Anxiety and More” by Martin Kutcher, MD, “1,000 Tips for the Parents of Autistic Boys” by Keri Siri, “Dads and Autism: How to Stay in the Game, Bond with your Child, Develop Affection, and Keep the Family Intact” by Emerson Donnell to name a few.
