VILLE PLATTE -- The Sacred Heart Lady Trojan softball team could not have started the season any better.
On Wednesday, the Lady Trojans needed just six innings on the road to take down the Rayne Lady Wolves 13-3.
The very next day, Sacred Heart found a way to squeeze past the Iota Lady Bulldogs in an 8-5 home win.
Against the Lady Wolves, the Lady Trojans opened the game by scoring seven runs on three hits to jump out in front of Rayne 7-0.
The Sacred Heart offense got churning once again in the fourth inning, as the Lady Trojans plated an additional four runs on three hits. Rayne brought home three runs of their own in that same inning, but it was not enough, as Sacred Heart closed out the game with two more runs in the sixth inning.
On Thursday, the Lady Trojans found it a little more challenging to come away with a win. Sacred Heart spotted Iota two runs in the top of the first, but responded by gathering three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning.
Over the course of the next two innings, the Lady Bulldogs were able to chip away at the Lady Trojan lead by scoring a single run in each of those innings.
Sacred Heart basically put the game on ice in the bottom of the fourth by driving home three additional runs.
