La. Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin to serve as the 2018 King Cotton

Louisiana Secretary of State and Ville Platte native R. Kyle Ardoin will serve as King Cotton for the 65th Annual Louisiana Cotton Festival.
The title of King Cotton is one Ardoin said, “This is an honor beyond belief.”
Ardoin is married to the former Letti Lowe of Port Allen and has a daughter, Abbigale. His parents, who are both graduates of Sacred Heart School in Ville Platte, are Robert and Charlotte Ardoin .
Ardoin’s grandparents, who are all from Ville Platte, are Only and Ida (Morein) Ardoin, and Adam and Mae (Soileau) Miller.
Ardoin became secretary of state back in May of 2018. However, other successes of Ardoin include starting his own lobbying, issues management and association business, specializing in health care and educational services representation for mor than 14 years.
He also has extensive experience in state government having worked for the Louisiana House of Representatives and accepting a gubernatorial appointment to the Capital Area Human Services District as well as the Health Care Reform Commission before his service as first assistant secretary of state - a position he held for eight years. In addition to these accolades, Ardoin has also completed a four-year elected term on the West Baton Rouge Parish School Board and served as executive director for the Concrete and Aggregates Association of Louisiana, Inc.
Civically, Ardoin has participated on the Louisiana Board of Directors for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and remains engaged in fundraising efforts for this cause as a result of his daughter’s diagnosis in early 2007.
Ardoin said he is looking forward to visiting Ville Platte for this year’s festival because it is going to be like “one big family reunion.”
Ardoin said, “Being from Ville Platte I remember visiting my grandparents during the summers, and I am excited to go back. I have family coming from all over so we are going to meet there and its going to be like one big family reunion.”
