An individual charged with second degree murder is back in jail after violating his bond obligation last Tuesday.
John Isaac Foret was detained on September 11, 2018, after a deputy with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Bayou One Stop in Bayou Chicot in reference to a white male hallucinating and stating that someone was attempting to kill him.
According to the affidavit and warrant of arrest, upon arrival at the store, the deputy learned that “the male subject had already left.” The deputy, however, was informed that before Foret left the store, he “went into a vehicle” and “attempted to take the drill out of the vehicle,” which was identified as a 2009 Chevrolet pickup.
In the affidavit and warrant of arrest, it states that “about 15 minutes later, Michael Brown called the Ville Platte police because he was behind Foret in Ville Platte.” The individual was following him because of the incident at Bayou One Stop.
Officers with the Ville Platte Police Department were “able to locate Foret at Dr. Martin Luther King Drive and Alton Locks Street, where he was detained.”
When the deputy arrived on scene, he said “Foret appeared to be under the influence of some type of narcotic.”
The suspect “was talking about someone attempting to kill him” and alleged that he had “an SD card to prove it.”
According to the deputy, Foret “was sweating heavily and kept jumping around.”
When the deputy attempted to arrest Foret, he “resisted and refused to enter the unit by pulling away.”
According to the deputy’s recollection, “after several attempts to place him (Foret) in the unit,” the deputy received assistance from a Ville Platte officer. Together the two law enforcement officers were able to secure Foret in the back seat of the deputy’s unit.
While being transported to the Evangeline Parish Jail, “Foret started to kick the rear window of the unit and slipped his handcuffs to the front.”
According to the affidavit, “Foret had a handcuff key hidden on his person and was attempting to unlock the cuffs.”
Once they arrived at the Evangeline Parish Jail, Foret, who is responsible for the shooting death of Edwin Snoddy in Turkey Creek, was booked on charges of simple burglary of a vehicle and resisting a deputy.
Foret’s bond for second degree murder was revoked, and he is now being held without bond.
