Food voucher assistance program is available

The Evangeline Community Action Agency Inc. is announcing the availability of funds through CSBG CARES ACT dedicated to assist low income households with food vouchers. All applications are taken on a first come first served basis. If you received assistance in 2020, you are not eligible. Calls will begin be taken on Monday, July 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. (as long as slots are available).
An eligible household is one whose total income is at or below the levels listed below. Applicants must provide, at a minimum, the following documentation at the time the application is taken: 1) copies of each household member’s actual social security number, 2) current proof(s) of income of all household members, and 3) a driver’s license or picture ID of the applicant. If it is determined additional documentation is require, the applicant will be notified at the time of the application. Households reporting zero income may be required to provide additional documentation. All information provided is subject to verification. Intentional misrepresentation of information may result in criminal prosecution of the applicant and anyone assisting in the misrepresentation.
Applications are taken by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, call 337-363-1306. There will be no walk-in appointments.
