Two Mamou men were injured in a shooting and stabbing on Friday evening as a result of a disturbance at a family gathering. Mamou Police Department was called to the area of the 300 block of East Street and quickly secured the area after witnesses reported gun shots and a stabbing. Jacoby Jack of Mamou was identified as one of the suspects and upon investigation MPD learned that Jack had been asked to leave the gathering after causing a disturbance, in retaliation Jack contacted his brother, Nicholas Jack and his cousin, Gary Freeman to assist him in continuing the conflict. A few minutes later, the additional suspects arrived in a blue Crown Victoria and several subjects began fighting. At that time, Jacoby Jack was seen stabbing one of the victims multiple times and fleeing the scene. The other two suspects ran back to the vehicle and began to open fire on the gathering and shots were returned by Jariah Jordan, the nephew of the stabbed victim who was in attendance of the gathering.As a result, Gary Freeman was struck in the head by one of the stray bullets. At that time, both Nicholas Jack and Gary Freeman returned to their home at 522 East Street and reported that Freeman had been shot. Officers responded and secured the second scene and upon a thorough investigation apprehended both Jacoby Jack and Nicholas Jack where they were taken into custody and charged with attempted murder. Jariah Jordan turned himself in to authorities moments later. Also arrested in connection with this incident was Roger Gradney who was charged with obstruction of justice for tampering with evidence. All suspects are being held at the Mamou jail. The victims were admitted to area hospitals with severe injuries.
