A “Meet the Candidates” political rally for all Evangeline Parish elections will take place Tuesday, October 16, at 5:00 p.m. at the Ville Platte Northside Civic Center.
Eight candidates from across the parish confirmed their appearance as of press time. Of these eight are candidates for mayor, chief of police, and school board, and city council. Two other candidates, Congressman Mike Johnson and Maggie Ortego, will be available through audio-visual means. Candidates can still sign up to attend the rally at the door.
There will be a social hour at 5:00 p.m. and candidate speeches and a debate at 6:00 p.m. The debate will be moderated by new Ville Platte Gazette publisher Garland Forman. For the debate, one prepared question and questions from the audience will be asked to each of the candidates.
This is a free event for the public, and food and drinks will be available for purchase.
