EPSO investigates incident of a man found dead in a drainage ditch

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating an incident where a white male subject was located “unresponsive lying in a drainage ditch” in the Mamou area.
In a press release from the EPSO it states that on May 14, 2018, the sheriff’s office “received a call for assistance in the 1100 block of Jake Lane.”
When deputies arrived on scene, they located the subject in a “drainage ditch behind a residence.” The release stated that “Acadian Ambulance medics attempted life saving measures, but were unable to revive the subject,” who was pronounced deceased by the Evangeline Parish Coroner’s Office.
Detectives then arrived on scene and “began processing the area and questioning witnesses.”
According to the release, “a cause of death has not been determined and autopsy results are pending.”
The release stated that “one suspect was taken into custody, but his name has been withheld due to the current investigation status.”
