The Evangeline Parish Sales Tax Commission has announced Friday, September 4, through Sunday, September 6, are the designated days for the Louisiana Second Amendment Holiday. Residents are reminded the sales tax exemption afforded consumer purchases of firearms, ammunition, and hunting supplies is applicable only at the local level as the state sales tax will be imposed per Act 1 2018 below.
Act 1 2018 temporarily removes the state’s three annual sales tax holidays from the list of approved sales and use tax exemptions in effect during the Louisiana Second Amendment Weekend sales tax holiday.
However, Act 1 does not affect any local sales and use tax exemptions in effect during the Louisiana Second Amendment Weekend sales tax holiday.
