COVID-19 curfew is lifted in Ville Platte

Ville Platte Mayor Jennifer Vidrine announced Tuesday, September 15 the city has lifted its curfew put in place because of COVID-19. The curfew was placed because some businesses in town had too many people congregating late at night in parking lots, which was against Governor Edwards’ orders for social distancing. Also, there were large increases in COVID-19 cases throughout Evangeline Parish, some of which were because of social gatherings.
Now that Louisiana is in Phase 3 of reopening, the mayor said the curfew can be lifted. However, she reminds citizens the curfew for minors ages 17 and under is Sunday through Thursday, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday through Saturday, midnight to 5 a.m.
