Evangeline Clerk of Court Randy Deshotel will be holding a commissioner school or all persons who are interested in becoming new certified election commissioners or for any previous commissioners who have not renewed their commission since July 1, 2020. The schools are open to anyone from a senior in high school on up and will be held on Monday, October 26, at 6 p.m. in Ville Platte at the Evangeline Parish Police Jury Meeting Room.
Attendance at this school and the successful completion of a short exam will qualify a person to become Certified Election Commissioner. Certified Commissioners who are selected to work at the Election polls on Election Days earn $200.00 per day worked. Being an election commissioner is an excellent way for anyone to participate in our democratic process. If you are interested in attending this school, please contact Clerk of Court Randy Deshotel or Cathy McDaniel, Deputy Clerk in charge of Elections at 337-363-5671 to reserve your seat and to allow us to have an idea of how many potential commissioners to expect.
