The Ville Platte Civil Service Board recently met to review fire captain and assistant fire chief test scores, as well as potential board members to fill a vacancy on the board.
Three of the four individuals, who attempted the civil service test for the position of fire captain, passed. The individuals who passed were Brian Duplechain, Scott Dupre and Edgar Bradley.
In terms of the fire chief’s exam, Ville Platte firefighters Jacob Demourelle and Fabian Poullard tested and both men passed.
Before closing the meeting, the board reviewed and approved the list of individuals who could potentially fill a vacancy on the board since the passing of former board member Edward Arvie.
The newly appointed board member must represent a college or university due to the requirements set for the makeup of the board. The list of potential appointees has been approved by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Those who have been nominated are Reverend Tillman Ben, Ernest Brown, Tommy Jones and Audrey Thomas.
According to the civil service board’s secretary, Hilda Edwards, the list of candidates will now be submitted to Ville Platte Mayor Jennifer Vidrine.
Edwards also stated the mayor intends on announcing her appointment at the next Ville Platte City Council meeting, which then must be approved by the council. The meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 13th, beginning at 5:00 p.m.
