Chipmunk bandit is apprehended in Franklin Parish

Sheriff Kevin Cobb reports that at approximately 1300pm a Mangham Police Officer executed a traffic stop southbound on LA 425 near the Franklin / Richland parish line. The officer was shot by a subject who fled the scene of the stop southbound on US 425 into Franklin Parish. The officer was transported to Franklin Medical Center and later transported to Rapides Hospital via helicopter.

A BOLO was issued for the vehicle by Richland Parish Sheriff's Office to surrounding agencies, including Franklin Parish Sheriff's Office. At approximately 1430pm a call came in to the Sheriff's Office reporting a crashed vehicle on LA Highway 562 near Fort Necessity that matched the description of the subject's vehicle. Units responded and established a perimeter in the area. At approximately 1500pm the subject was located armed and placed into custody without further incident. Placed into custody was Hermandus Dashanski Semien, of Ville Platte, LA, DOB August 24, 1993.

Sheriff Cobb is thankful to the many law enforcement agencies and those who reside in the Fort Necessity community that responded and assisted in establishing the perimeter and the ultimate apprehension of this subject.
