On December 23, 2019, at approximately 1:30 a.m., officers located a large amount of drugs, cash, and firearms during a traffic stop. Officers stopped a vehicle on East Main Street for improper lane usage, and, while speaking with the occupants, they observed what appeared to be illegal drugs inside the vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle, officers located over three pounds of marijuana, over seven grams of crystal meth, over 150 grams of heroin, an unspecified amount of cash, and two firearms.
Officers arrested Geraldo Nelson, age 30, of 1285 West Live Oak Street, Ville Platte. Nelson was charged with two counts of possession with intent to distribute schedule II, two counts of possession with intent to distribute schedule I, and one count of illegal carrying of a firearm while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance. Nelson was booked into the Ville Platte City Jail and was transferred to the Evangeline Parish Jail on a $ 105,000.00 bond.
Also arrested was Marcus Garrison, age 30, of 2411 2nd Street, Ville Platte. Garrison was charged with two counts of possession with intent to distribute schedule II, two counts of possession with intent to distribute Schedule I, and one count of illegal carrying of a firearm while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and one count of illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Garrison was booked into the Ville Platte City Jail and was transferred to the Evangeline Parish Jail on a $ 155,000.00 bond.
