On Thursday, April 8, Pine Prairie Police received several complaints of a strong chemical smell coming from the 1600 block of Ash Street.
Officers responded to the area and also noticed the strong chemical smell.
With the assistance of Turkey Creek Police K9, officers searched the area and was able to find the source of the smell which was coming from the yard bug chemical Malathion that a resident used in her yard to control the yard bugs.
Officers did check the area further with the K9 just to eliminate any other possible source, and the K9 alerted to possible narcotics in a shed behind the address of 1622 Ash Street where a male subject was found with a small glass smoking pipe commonly used for methamphetamine.
Matthew Marcantel of 1622 Ash Street was issued a criminal citation for simple possession of drug paraphernalia and released.
Chief LC Deshotel wants to thank the Turkey Creek Police Department for its quick response and assistance in this matter. Chief Deshotel reminds the public to report any suspicious activity to his office.
