Chataignier Mayor Justin Darbonne, during the council meeting held Monday, October 19, announced the Community Clean Up is rescheduled for the week of November 9. The event was initially set for last month but was scratched because of Hurricane Laura.
Judging for the clean up will begin on Monday, November 9, and the first, second, and third place winners will be announced at the council meeting held the following Monday on November 16.
Any resident wishing to participate can contact the village hall.
Mayor Darbonne went on to announce the service fees for credit and debit card transactions is now $1.50 per transaction which is down from the initial $3.00.
He also stated trick-or-treat hours are set for 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 31. The mayor urged residents to social distance and use common sense when trick-or-treating.
In other business, the council heard from Evangeline Parish Police Juror Keith Saucier regarding a recent attorney general opinion on work being done by the police jury in municipalities and voted to adopt the millage rates.
