Chataignier council receives clean audit

In its last meeting of 2019, the Chataignier Village Council heard from certified public accountant Vic Slaven about its audit report.
Slaven reported the audit was a clean and unmodified opinion.
According to Slaven, as of June 30, 2019, the village’s total assets were $76,756.00 and total liabilities and fund balance of $76,756.00.
Slaven went through the audit and that included the following:

The village began the year with a fund balance of $91,851 and ended the year with a fund balance of $74,880.
Slaven also went through the findings of the audit but reported “everything that was a problem has been fixed and reported.”
In other business, the council:
• heard from Police Chief Clint Brasseaux about a recent thefts in the village.
• voted for Councilwoman Debra Fontenot to receive compensation of back pay.
• voted to adopt an amended ordinance regarding compensation of the village administrator.
• voted to authorize Mayor Justin Darbonne to purchase a permit to use a drying bed with the sewer system.
