Chapman arrested for theft of gravel

Evangeline Parish sheriff deputies responded Friday afternoon to a theft complaint regarding the parish’s stockpile of gravel. Upon investigating, an arrest was made, and the alleged suspect was charged with felony theft.
A press release from Sheriff Eddie Soileau states as follows: On June 14, 2019, Shanon Chapman of 4645 Pine Point Rd in Ville Platte was arrested and charged with felony theft.”
“On June 4, 2019, Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division received a complaint from the Evangeline Parish Public Works Director Chester Granger in reference to a theft of parish gravel rocks on Yves Rd and Dozer Ln. The detectives immediately began an investigation on this incident and proved beyond reasonable doubt Chapman had committed the crime for felony theft and used the gravel to repair his own private driveway.”
“The suspect was arrested and booked into the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office Jail on felony theft. Chapman’s bond was set at $25,000.00 by 13th Judicial Judge Chuck West.”
