Executive Director of Evangeline Chamber of Commece and Tourist Commission resigned her post on Friday, June 5. Also resigning as assistant to the director on Wednesday, June 10, was Kristin Derise.
“This year has proven to be somewhat of a challenge given the coronavirus,” said Chamber President Peter Strawitz in a statement to Chamber members, “however, the economy and businesses locally are showing signs of reopening.”
Strawitz’s statement continued as follows:
“Our Evangeline Chamber and Tourist Commission have also been affected. At the end of last year, we hired a new executive director, Erin Hoffpauir, who started her position January 1. Erin came from the retail side of business and brought with her social media skills and other talents. On Monday, May 25, Erin submitted her resignation as the executive director effective June 5 to pursue another career path. On Tuesday, June 9, Kristin Derise, the office assistant, submitted her letter of resignation due to personal family matters. We are sorry to see them go, but we appreciate the contributions of both Erin and Kristin.”
“At this time we, the Evangeline Chamber and the Tourist Commission executive committees are in the process of putting together a plan for moving forward and to conduct searches for both positions.”
“The daily business of the Chamber is being manned by Dr. Gwen Fontenot, and Felicia Manuel is assisting with the financials. We are also working with the Tourist Commission to have someone help in the office in the interim.”
“We will continue to communicate with the board and membership as we go through this process and as any changes occur. We appreciate your membership in the Chamber and look forward to continuing our work to keep Evangeline Parish moving forward.”
