I, Brent Zackery, am pleased to announce my candidacy for re-election to the position of Chief of Police for the Town of Mamou.
I was born and raised in Mamou. Today, I am married to Conner Bruchhaus, and we have two children, Arianna, 8, and Adaleigh, 2.
I have worked in law enforcement for a total of 12 years. Some of that time has been spent working for the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office, Ville Platte Police Department, Ville Platte Marshal, Elton Police Department, and the Mamou Police Department. I have also served as Constable of Ward 3 for two years before being elected as Chief for the Town of Mamou.
My accomplishments as Chief of Police are as follows:
•Ensured that all full time officers with the Mamou Police Department are POST certified, except for one, who is currently being enrolled into the academy.
•All full time offers with the MPD are certified with a radar gun and JPX pepper gun, as well as firearms.
•Acquired two golf carts for park patrol and loud music patrol.
•For safety of our children, I have maintained having an officer on park duty seven days a week.
•Brought back the crossing guards for school traffic.
•Hired an extra officer during the day and also at night.
•Required all officers to attend and check on the schools in our community daily.
•Provided security for all school functions, as well as had our department take part in school activities.
•Worked closely with Savoy Heights, Peaceful Chateau Apartments, Peaceful Maison Apartments, Oakwood Apartments, Meadow Run, and the Mamou Housing Authority to ensure safety at these residential complexes.
•Hosted an array of community events such as holiday functions for the elderly and events for our children for Easter, back to school and Toys for Tots.
•Performed several mock drills with Savoy Medical Center, New Horizons, Mamou Elementary and Mamou High.
•Maintained a good working relationship with the Mamou Fire Department, as well as other law enforcement agencies within our parish.
•250 felon arrests made with a little more than half being drug arrests.
Lets keep progressing. Re-elect me, Brent Zackery, as Mamou Chief of Police.
