Campaign Announcement

Former Turkey Creek mayor seeks state senate seat in October election

Former mayor of Turkey Creek Heather Cloud has announced her candidacy for State Senate in District 28 on the October 12 ballot.
“I, Heather Cloud, am officially announcing my candidacy for State Senate,” Cloud said in her announcement. “I am a proud wife, mom, business owner, and public servant. I want to take my experience and put it to work on behalf of District 28 which encompasses Avoyelles, Evangeline, Allen, and portions of St. Landry and Acadia parishes.”
Cloud’s announcement continued as follows: “If elected, I will be a bold conservative voice in the legislature. I am running to build a better Louisiana based on smaller government, a stronger economy, and protecting our values. I am 100% Pro-Life and a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment.”
“I am a degreed school teacher, and I will work hard to make our public education system better for students, teachers, and parents. I entered into private business with my husband; together we currently own Jody Cloud Trucking and Miss Sue’s Cafe.”
“As business owners in the trucking industry, my husband and I have seen first hand the devastating impact that the failure to invest in infrastructure has had on Louisiana businesses and families. I will fight for our fair share of infrastructure investments in roads, bridges, and drainage solutions.”
“For over 16 years, I have successfully operated multiple million dollar budgets in both private and governmental business. Having served in local government, I understand that to build a better community we have to all be willing to do our part. Government does not make Louisiana great, it’s our people and our way of life that make our state a great place to live and raise a family. It’s time that we make government work as hard as our people do.”
“My husband Jody and I have been married for over 18 years, and we have two sons, Logan age 16 and Ethan age 12. As a mom, I have sought to teach my children the values of faith, hard work, and to never give up on their dreams. My family, particularly my sons, are the driving force behind my bid for state senate. The decisions made at the federal, state, and local levels today affect our children’s ability to raise their families here and have good-paying jobs for tomorrow. I want our children to have the opportunity to grow old in Louisiana and not have to leave to find opportunity.”
“We can turn this state around, but it won’t happen if we simply keep doing the same things and voting the same way, yet expecting different results. I’ve brought results in private business, I’ve brought results for my town as its mayor where I served for eight years, and if elected, I will bring results as your next state senator.”
