Arrest is made following a previously reported shooting in VP

Following a shooting which occurred on Anita Street two weeks ago, an arrest has been made by the Ville Platte Police Department.
According to a press release from Chief of Police Neal Lartigue, “The Ville Platte Police Department released information in an update on the September 22, 2019, shooting where officers and investigators with the Ville Platte Police Department responded to the 1500 block of Anita Street for a report of a shooting. Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Deputies also responded. Upon arrival they made contact with the victim and learned that he had been shot once. Acadian Ambulance transported the victim to Mercy Regional and he was later transported to Lafayette General Hospital where he was treated for nine days for critical injuries which left him with permanent damages.”
“Through the investigation it was learned the suspect and victim had an ongoing feud and had been involved in an altercation approximately one hour before the shooting.”
“On September 26, Sandress Calvin, age 31 of 605 Reverend E.D. Alfred Street, Ville Platte, was arrested without incident and booked into the Ville Platte City Jail. Calvin was charged with one count of attempted second degree murder, one count of carrying of a firearm by a convicted felon, one count of illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrument and two counts of aggravated criminal damage to property. Calvin was transported to the Evangeline Parish Jail where he remains with no bond.”
