Tee Cotton Bowl and Saints get together

(Editor’s Note: New Orleans Saints Quarterback Drew Brees announced his retirement this week after 20 seasons in the NFL.)
It was a monumental event Friday when the New Orleans Saints and their organization teamed up with the local Tee Cotton Bowl crew to enjoy lunch, talk and take pictures at the Saints’ facility in Metairie. The event featured many local companies and many local faces who wanted to show the Saints just what the TCB and Ville Platte are all about.
“It was amazing to say the least,” said TCB founder Tim Fontenot. “They (the Saints) were so gracious and good to us. We had a great time and could not ask to be around better people.”
The group featured many of the Saints players, like Drew Brees, and the Saints’ coaches, like Joe Vitt and Mickey Loomis, the general manager.
From Ville Platte, coaches from both Sacred Heart and Ville Platte High were in attendance as well as their respective athletic directors. Sacred Heart AD Robert Soileau and Ville Platte High AD Tommy Jones helped with the event and made sure the TCB was well represented.
The new head football coaches of both schools were also in attendance.
“It meant so much to see Doug Guillory (SHHS) and Tracey Jagneaux (VPHS) there today,” Fontenot explained. “It was nice that many of their assistant coaches came also. It really showed how much the schools are involved.”
The Saints and their organization have always supported the TCB and now it was time for the TCB to give back. And that they did.
They brought jambalaya, grilled boudin and a slew of other goodies. The cooking crew and process was headed by Jessie Muse. Snowballs were also handed out to those in attendance by Kevin Veillon and his staff.
“We were so grateful to have guys like Jessie and Kevin to come to this event and lend a hand.” Fontenot remarked. “Without their help it would not have been as fun and successful as it was. I am really appreciative of all they did.”
The TCB has become a legend around the world now. To further the venue along, the TCB now has the backing of the former Super Bowl Champs and a former Super Bowl MVP.
