VFW Post 3803
VFW Post 3803 and Ladies Auxiliary will meet today, July 29, at 6 p.m. at the new VFW Hall located at 505 E. Hickory St. in Ville Platte. A supper will follow the meeting.

Food for Families/
Food for Seniors
The Evangeline Community Action Agency Inc. and Food for Families/Food for Seniors will be distributing the food boxes via drive-thru at the Ville Platte Civic Center on Thursday, August 5, from 6 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

Availability of Low Income
Energy Assistance Funds
The Evangeline Community Action Agency Inc. is announcing the availability of funds dedicated to assist eligible low-income households with their energy assistance. All applications are taken on a first come-first served basis. Calls will begin being taken on Monday, August 16, from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m.
An eligible household is one whose total income is at or below the levels listed in the table below. Applicants must provide, at a minimum, the following documentation at the time the application is taken: (1) copies of each household member’s actual social security number, (2) current proof(s) of income of all household members, (3) a copy of an energy bill dated within the last six months, (4) a current driver’s license or picture I.D. of the applicant matching the current address, and (5) another bill and/or document matching the address on the energy bill if the driver’s license or picture I.D. is not current. If it is determined additional documentation is required, the applicant will be notified at the time of application. Households reporting “zero income” may be required to provide additional documentation. All information provided is subject to verification. Intentional misrepresentation of information may result in criminal prosecution of the applicant and anyone assisting in the misrepresentation.

Charlene Richard Mass
The Charlene Richard Foundation announced the date of the Annual Mass of Petition marking the 62nd anniversary of the death of Charlene Richard. This Mass will be offered on Wednesday, August 11, at 6 p.m. at St. Edward Church in Richard. Fr. Korey Lavergne, pastor of St. Edward Church, will be the main celebrant.
This year’s celebration begins at 5:30 p.m. with the praying of the Rosary. Immediately following the Mass, there will be a reception in the hall.

JSM Pre-Kindergarten Mandatory Parent Meeting/ Open House
James Stephens Montessori’s Pre-Kindergarten mandatory parent meeting will be held Wednesday, August 4, at 5:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Only Pre-K parents or guardians must attend this meeting. If you need to update any information, please bring documentation on that day.
Also, an open house for third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grade parents and students will be held on Monday, August 9 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Parents and students will meet teachers and bring in school supplies.
