VPPD in search of man who stole money from an individual at a local ATM

On Friday, Ville Platte Chief of Police Neal Lartigue reported that he and his department are seeking assistance in identifying a robbery suspect.
In a release from the chief it stated that “at approximately 2:00 p.m., officers with the Ville Platte Police Department responded to a report of a robbery at an ATM at a local bank on West Main Street.”
According to the release, “Upon arrival officers learned that the victim retrieved an undisclosed amount of cash from the ATM and pulled forward to allow the next car to pull forward.”
It was at this time that “a black male of medium build approached on foot and snatched the cash from his hands through the open window of his vehicle.”
The man suspected of taking the money was “wearing a maroon shirt, dark jacket, dark baseball cap and a black book sack” at the time of the incident.
