VPPD search for armed robbery suspect

On Friday, Ville Platte Police Chief Neal Lartigue reported that his department is in search of an armed robbery suspect, who has been identified as 28-year-old Johnathan Hakeem Williams.
In a release from the Chief it states that “on April 5, 2018 at approximately 7:00 p.m. officers with the Ville Platte Police Department responded to an armed robbery at a store located on the 700 block of Main Street.”
The release went on to state that “upon arrival, officers learned that a black male wearing a black hoodie approached the register, pulled a gun and demanded that the cashier give him all of the money in the register.” It also stated that “the suspect then repeated his demands for the money from the second register.”
According to the release, “after the suspect took the money from both registers, he fled the scene on foot.”
Williams’ last known address is 931 Rosa Ann Street, Opelousas.
Williams, who the release stated “should be considered armed and dangerous,” is wanted for the charge of armed robbery.
