On Monday, Ville Platte Chief of Police Neal Lartigue released an update on his department’s search for a man suspected of robbing an individual at a local ATM.
In the chief’s release, the suspect is identified as “Spencer Charles Williams, 29 of 707 Young Street, Ville Platte.”
Williams is now “wanted by the VPPD on the charge of simple robbery.”
According to authorities, the robbery took place at around 2:00 p.m. on Friday at a local bank on Main Street.
In Chief Lartigue’s release last Friday, it stated that when officers arrived at the scene they “learned that the victim retrieved an undisclosed amount of cash from the ATM and pulled forward to allow the next car to pull forward.”
At that time, “a black male of medium build approached on foot and snatched the cash from his hands through the open window of his vehicle.”
Authorities say that Williams was “wearing a maroon shirt, dark jacket, dark baseball cap and a black book sack” at the time of the incident.
If anyone has any information regarding the whereabouts of Williams, Chief Lartigue asks that you contact the Ville Platte Police Department at (337) 363-1313. Your call will remain anonymous.
