On Wednesday, Ville Platte Chief of Police Neal Lartigue reported the arrest of two individuals for felony theft.
In a release from Chief Lartigue it states that “on November 14, 2017, officers with the Ville Platte Police Department responded to a report of theft on Tom Drive.”
According to the release, “upon arrival, officers learned that many items were taken from the home including two televisions, two PlayStation gaming consoles, a home stereo system, clothing, purses, shoes, cell phones, towels and wash-cloths, jewelry box and multiple miscellaneous items.”
Detective Sergeant Steven Deville, who was assigned to investigate this incident, received information that a white female, who was later identified as Jamie Carter, and a white male, who was later identified as Christopher D. Aucoin, “removed the items from the residence and placed them into a white Ford pickup truck, and left the area.”
Not long after receiving this information, Deville “located the truck at a residence on Theophile Road.”
In the chief’s release it states that “after obtaining and executing a search warrant, most of the stolen items were located in the residence, truck and shed.”
According to the release, “while searching the shed for items, the two suspects were discovered hiding behind a headboard that was stored in the shed.”
Aucoin, 35, of Eunice, and Carter, 37, of St. Landry, were arrested and booked in the city jail for felony theft.
Both individuals remain incarcerated at this time on an $18,000.00 bond set by Judge Gary Ortego.
