Ordinances regarding the current and proposed budgets were presented by Mayor Quint West last week at the meeting of the Pine Prairie Village Council.
Mayor West read Ordinance 7-2017 which is an amendment to Ordinance 2-2016 dealing with the 2017 fiscal year budget. According to the mayor, the new ordinance will “amend the 2017 budget to the amounts in the projected actual results column in the report as presented.”
The 2017-2018 fiscal year budget was then introduced as Ordinance 8. Mayor West said the ordinance will “adopt the 2018 budget as presented in the report in the proposed budget column.”
Also introduced at the meeting was Ordinance 9 which is regarding the wages of the village clerk.
The council voted to introduce all ordinances and to set a public hearing on the matters for December 14, 2017, at 5:00 p.m. at the village hall.
Earlier in the meeting, councilwoman Debbie Oge complimented the village on the new street signs along Highway 13 and said that she had been getting positive feedback from the community. Mayor West stated, “Next year we’ll get the other side done. That’s what we’ll use that grant money for.”
Mayor West also reported that the village’s Christmas Parade is set for Sunday, December 10 at 2:00 p.m. with lineup at 1:30 p.m.
