With Thanksgiving come and gone, municipalities across Evangeline Parish are now planning Christmas events for the public to enjoy during the holiday season.
The following is a list of those events:
The City of Ville Platte will host its Christmas Parade on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. The lighting of the downtown park on Main Street will take place immediately following the parade.
For the Village of Pine Prairie, a Christmas Parade will take place on Sunday, December 10, 2017. The parade will begin at 2:00 p.m., with lineup for floats at 1:30 p.m.
Those interested in being in the parade can call (337) 599-2904. The deadline to sign-up for the parade is Thursday, December 7, 2017.
The Town of Mamou will host its Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 16, 2017, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
For those participating in the parade, lineup will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Mamou High School.
Immediately following the parade, children can have their picture taken with Santa at city hall. At this location, kids will also be able to enjoy a balloon artist, who will be making holiday balloons, and take pictures with Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Paw Patrol, Peppa Pig, and Poppy the Troll all for free.
The Village of Turkey Creek will be throwing a Christmas party, with its Christmas in the Village set for December 9, 2017. The celebration will begin at 11:00 a.m.
At Christmas in the Village, the public will be treated to live bands, pony rides, a parade, antique tractor pull, petting zoo, beauty pageant and a firework show.
For Christmas festivities this year in Chataignier, the village will host its parade on December 10, 2017 at 3:00 p.m.
Parade lineup will be at 2:30 p.m. at Carver Elementary.
The fee to participate in the parade is $10.00 per vehicle, trailer, or group, and $5.00 for each horse, three-wheeler, four-wheeler or UTV.
Following the parade, Santa will be available to take pictures at the Community Center.
The public can pre-register for the parade at the Chataignier Community Center from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. or at Cajun Smoke Meats from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
