O’Connor, Lafleur are new senior royalty

At this year’s Boggy Bayou Festival Pageant at Prairie Manor Nursing Home, Mr. John O’Connor was crowned senior king, while Ms. Bernita Lafleur was crowned senior queen.
Mr. Lafleur, 70, is the father of three children and has eight grandchildren. He has been a resident of Prairie Manor Nursing Home for one year. The new senior king enjoys visiting with other residents, playing pokeno, and playing bingo. He loves attending church services and resident parties. He loves being outdoors and is a pleasure to be around.
The new senior queen, Ms. Bernita Lafleur, is 96 years old. She is the mother of two daughters. She has nine grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. She is expecting another great grandchild in June. She has resided at Prairie Manor for five years now. She loves spending time visiting with other residents, playing bingo, pokeno, and horse races. She enjoys attending mass, reciting the rosary and attending parties. She loves going on facility outings and enjoys getting her hair and nails done. She also loves to dance and visiting her family. She is such a pleasure to be around and loves telling you stories about her family.
Weather permitting, both the senior king and queen will attend the Queen’s Pageant at the 35th Annual Boggy Bayou Festival on Saturday, April 6th at 2 p.m.
