Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Deputies in search of suspect who shot female in the face

On Friday, January 26, 2018, at around 11:00 p.m., deputies with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a shooting at the W.C. Reed Fire Department in the Duralde area just outside of Mamou.
According to Major Jeremy Mitchell, with the EPSO, upon learning more about the incident, deputies discovered that the female victim had been “shot in the face.”
However, he also said that the victim, who was transported to Savoy Medical Center and then to Lafayette General, “seems to be doing okay.”
Maj. Mitchell said, “She is not in critical condition.”
This incident remains under investigation at this time. No arrests have been made in connection with this crime, but, according to the Major, they do have “people of interest.” The EPSO believes that the shooter was a black male.
