According to Major Jeremy Mitchell, with the EPSO, upon learning more about the incident, deputies discovered that the female victim had been “shot in the face.”
However, he also said that the victim, who was transported to Savoy Medical Center and then to Lafayette General, “seems to be doing okay.”
Maj. Mitchell said, “She is not in critical condition.”
This incident remains under investigation at this time. No arrests have been made in connection with this crime, but, according to the Major, they do have “people of interest.” The EPSO believes that the shooter was a black male.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at (337) 363-2161.
