Evangeline Parish Public Schools will be closed Tuesday
Evangeline Parish Superintendent Darwan Lazard announces Monday afternoon that all evangeline Parish public schools and district offices will be closed on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 due to forecasted weather.
Superintendent Lazard released the following statement:
“After reviewing weather predictions from the National Weather Service (NWS) in Lake Charles and consulting with Evangeline Parish 911/Office of Emergency Preparedness (OEP) Director Liz Hill and School Board President Wayne Dardeau, I have decided to close all Evangeline Parish Schools and District Offices tomorrow (Tuesday, January 29, 2019).
Thus far, Evangeline Parish has been added to the Winter Weather Advisory area. While experts at the NWS-Lake Charles are not certain if we will or will not receive ice/snow, the safety and well-being of our students, employees and communities remain our primary concern.
We are announcing this decision at this time, in order for our parents/legal guardians, families, etc. to be able to make appropriate adjustments/arrangements.
Stay tuned to local media outlets for updates regarding our status for Wednesday, January 30, 2019.”
