An Evangeline Parish resident was arraigned in district court on charges of first degree rape victim under age of thirteen and pornography involving juveniles under age of thirteen.
The defendant Keisha Lane Matt, 38 of Mamou, entered pleas of not guilty to the charges on Thursday, December 20, in front of 13th Judicial District Court Judge Chuck West.
Matt’s arraignment came over a week after she was indicted by an Evangeline Parish Grand Jury on the felony sex charges stemming from an alleged incident that occurred between January 2014 and August 2018.
Following the arraignment and the not guilty pleas, Matt will again appear in court in front of the 13th Judicial District Court Judge Gary J. Ortego on March 7, 2019, for trial probing. Her trial is scheduled to begin on March 18.
Matt’s bond had previously been set at $250,000.00, and Kelly Tate of the Evangeline Parish Indigent Defendant Board was appointed to represent her. Nicholas Monier of the Evangeline Parish District Attorney office is prosecuting the case on behalf of the State of Louisiana.
