The Ville Platte Chamber of Commerce announced on Tuesday that it will be welcoming Renee Brown as its new executive director.
In an email to chamber members, chamber president, Luke Deville, stated that “after interviewing highly qualified applicants for the executive director position, the search committee has found a new executive director for our organization.”
Deville went on to state that Brown’s “experience, credentials and public relation skills are a great match for what our chamber needs in order to ensure future success.”
According to the email, Brown is expected to begin her new role as executive director on April 9, 2018, and to ensure a smooth transition, Brown “will also be working with the interim executive director, Sonia Ardoin, and volunteer, Linda Lebsack, throughout this month.”
Brown has been involved in a variety of local groups and organizations including the Louisiana Smoked Meat Festival, Louisiana Cotton Pickers and Le Grand Hoorah.
Before joining the chamber of commerce as its executive director, Brown served as a public relations and marketing director for Citizens Bank. She later opened a restaurant in Ville Platte called the Cocks Tail Restaurant, and then became an office manager and legal assistant at a local attorney’s office.
“All of these skills Renee holds will be vital to the success of our Chamber moving forward,” said the chamber president. “Together we will work with Renee in transforming the Ville Platte Chamber of Commerce to the Evangeline Parish Chamber Commerce.”
In closing, Deville stated, “We look forward to working with her in fulfilling our mission to be a business advocate and to promote economic progress for the betterment of our communities, municipalities, and parish. Together we can promote, support and strengthen businesses to create a more prosperous Evangeline Parish.”
