Ville Platte takes two on road at Notre Dame

CROWLEY -- It was a sweeping success for the Ville Platte High basketball teams Friday night, as both the Bulldogs and the Lady Bulldogs came away with key district wins over the Pioneers and Lady Pioneers of Notre Dame.
In the first game of the night, the Lady Bulldogs turned around a two-point halftime deficit to take a razor thin 41-39 win.
In that contest, Notre Dame jumped out to an 8-3 lead after one quarter of play, but Ville Platte picked up the pace, out scoring the Lady Pioneers 18-15 in the second quarter.
The Lady Bulldogs posted back-to-back 10-8 quarters in the second half to come away with the two-point win. Ville Platte moved to 9-12 on the year and 4-3 in District 6-2A.
Trinity Leday scored 11 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs, while Vandraya Wilson chipped in 10 points.
In the second game, the Bulldogs blasted out to a 22-10 after the first quarter and cruised to a 66-46 win.
Notre Dame did regroup long enough to post a 14-12 advantage in the second quarter. Nevertheless, Ville Platte controlled the final two periods, out producing the Pioneers 32-22 in the final two quarters.
Three players scored in double digits for the Bulldogs, as Jahmal Byers led the way with 17 points, followed by Tyler Jones with 16 points and Ernest Roberts with 12.
The Bulldogs are now 22-2 on the season and 6-1 in league play. Both Ville Platte squads were scheduled to play North Central on Saturday and then travel to Parkview Baptist on Tuesday.
