Officers with the Pine Prairie Police Department recently arrested one individual for theft, and another who had outstanding warrants issued by the Lafayette City Marshal’s Office for failure to appear in court.
The individuals arrested have been identified as Robert “R.J.” Dupre and Kaijea Richard.
The incident involving Dupre, according to a release from Pine Prairie Police Chief L.C. Deshotel, occurred on Wednesday June 20th, at around 3:50 a.m. “when an officer came across Dupre with tail lights belonging to a vehicle.”
In the chief’s release it stated that “through further investigations, it was discovered that Dupre had stolen the tail lights off a vehicle in town and also the drive shaft off the same vehicle.” When Dupre was arrested for theft, “drug paraphernalia was located in his possession.”
Dupre has been charged with felony theft, criminal damage to property and possession of drug paraphernalia. He currently remains incarcerated at the parish jail on a $41,500.00 bond set by 13th Judicial District Court Judge Chuck West.
The incident involving Richard also occurred on Wednesday, June 20th.
In this matter, Richard’s arrest was the result of a tip from the Lafayette Marshal’s Office that an individual who has out standing warrants may be in Pine Prairie.
In Chief Deshotel’s release it stated that the “Lafayette City Marshal’s Office contacted Pine Prairie Police about Richard possibly being in Pine Prairie.”
The release went on to state that the marshal’s office had “two active warrants for her arrest for failing to appear in court.”
Officers were able to locate Richard, who was then arrested without incident and transferred to the parish jail. Later that day, Richard was transported to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center where she remains incarcerated.
