Heavy rainfall hit the Central and South Louisiana area Tuesday causing vast flooding in the area. Among the places affected was Pine Prairie, where, according to some reports, over five inches of rain fell.
“What occurred Tuesday was a true flash flood,” said Pine Prairie Mayor Quint West in a statement. “Water came down so quickly that flooding was bound to happen.”
He continued in his statement as follows: “This is not what we want to see, and therefore town workers and I took this opportunity to ride every street and assess our problem areas. Our next step is to begin working in those areas to correct any drainage issues.”
“We are grateful that in a matter of 30 minutes to an hour nearly all of the water had subsided.”
