On September 24, 2019, officers with the Mamou Police Department received a complaint of a stolen cargo trailer from a local business. Officers began the investigation and located a similar trailer at a nearby residence just outside the city limits. Mamou Police, with the assistance of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office, were able to get consent to search the grounds of the residence located at 1409 Barry Manuel Road, where the
similar trailer was located. Officers discovered the trailer was in fact the stolen trailer at this address. The resident, Alex Granger, is currently being held at the Evangeline Parish Jail for separate charges and will be charged for possession of stolen property. This investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected. Chief Brent Zackary would like to thank the sheriff’s office and the public for their assistance for the recovery of the stolen property.
