A suspect wanted for theft of a motor vehicle, which allegedly took place on Sunday, August 18, in the Mamou area, was captured Wednesday by the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s office, as reported by the Mamou Police Department.
According to the EPSO website, www.evangelineparishsheriff.org, Damien M. Williams, was booked into the Evangeline Parish Jail on Wednesday October 23 on the charge of theft of a motor vehicle. He is also facing charges of probation or parole violator, resisting an officer, criminal trespass, simple battery, failure to appear, resisting an officer, simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, purse snatching, home invasion, aggravated assault with a firearm, aggravated second degree battery, and resisting an officer.
Williams is being held on a $285,000.00 bond.
The charge of theft of a motor vehicle stems from an incident on the 1000 block of Shorty Lane in Mamou where the owner noticed his red 2007 Honda Rancher 420 was missing.
