Evangeline Parish native Major Wayne Vidrine of Louisiana State Police has been named Colonel Cotton for this year’s 66th Louisiana Cotton Festival.
He joins the previously announced royalty of Dr. Dan D. Fromme, a professor with the LSU AgCenter who serves as the State Specialist for cotton, corn, and grain sorghum, as crowned King Cotton 65th; and Maynor Fontenot, a WWII veteran of Ville Platte, as the Grand Parade Marshal of Grand Parade of Cotton.
Major Vidrine was named commander of Louisiana State Police Troop I in 2017. He was subsequently named Region III Command Inspector. Region III includes 29 parishes.
