Two teenagers, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old, have been arrested for their actions which caused a vacant house in Ville Platte to catch fire.
The Louisiana Fire Marshal’s office was called on October 23 to assist the Ville Platte Fire Department in the investigation at the property located on the 100 block of East Oak Street.
Upon initial investigation, it was determined the cause of the fire was intentional and damage was minimal in several areas.
Three teenagers were identified over the course of the investigation. The teenagers, according to the fire marshal, “admitted to taking a gas can they found while walking through the neighborhood and using it to set objects on fire inside of the house.”
The individuals each received citations for one count of simple arson, criminal conspiracy, an criminal trespass and were released to their guardians.
